H.E. Ambassador DI. Sebastian Prinz von Schoenaich-Carolath was born in Vienna and graduated from the University of Applied Sciences in Munich.

Following a 27-month military education, he began working for Deutsche Bank in 1983, including at the Headquarters in Düsseldorf. In 1992, he became a director of Ulmer Volksbank, where he was a member of the Management Board from 1994 and served as CEO until 2002.

In the years from 2001 to 2003 he was a member of the Management Board of Berliner Volksbank and subsequently moved to Kölner Bank as CEO, where he worked until 2011. In this year he took over his assignment with DZ Polska before taking over as CEO of HETA Asset Resolution AG in 2015, a wind-down company owned by the Republic of Austria. From June 2019 to December 2022, he was a member of the Supervisory Board of Privat Bank in Kyiv, Ukraine.

Since 1989 he is a member of the Order of Malta and has been promoted to Grand Cross Knight of Honour and Devotion in 2015. He served in numerous responsible functions in the German Relief Corp of the Order of Malta, the Malteser Hilfsdienst Deutschland, and with the German Association of the Order. Since 2018, he has been an honorary Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the Republic of Austria.
