On 29 October 2025, the Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the Republic of Austria, H.E. Sebastian Prince von Schoenaich-Carolath, and his wife were received by His Holiness Pope Leo XIV during a general audience. In his conversation with the Holy Father, the Ambassador outlined the Order’s actual activities for the poor and sick, as well as its commitment to the victims of Human Trafficking worldwide.

Ambassador Schoenaich-Carolath was deeply impressed by his meeting with Pope Leo XIV, especially by the Holy Father’s warmth and sincere interest in the sick and disabled people present at the audience.

On 11 February 2025, Grand Master Fra’ John T. Dunlap admitted the Prefect of the Congregation for Bishops, then known as H.E. Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost O.S.A., to the Sovereign Order of Malta with the rank and dignity of Grand Cross of Honour and Devotion Bailli.
