Austrian Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Meinl-Reisinger visits the Order of Malta in Rome
The Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria, Beate Meinl-Reisinger, met on 8 July 2025 with the Grand Chancellor of the Sovereign Order of Malta, Riccardo Paternò di Montecupo, and Grand Hospitaller Josef D. Blotz to exchange information. The Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the Republic of Austria, H.E. Sebastian Prince von Schoenaich-Carolath, accompanied the talks in Rome.

Diplomacy more important than ever for humanitarian aid
On the occasion of the feast day of the Sovereign Order of Malta, H.E. DI Sebastian Prince of Schoenaich-Carolath, Ambassador of the Order to the Republic of Austria, hosted the traditional diplomatic reception at the St. Johanns Club in Vienna on 24 June 2025. In his speech, the Ambassador emphasised the Order's special role as a subject of international law and as a humanitarian aid organisation – a combination that is becoming increasingly important in crisis regions around the world.

During the international pilgrimage of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Lourdes, which took place from 1 to 5 May 2025, the Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the Republic of Austria, H.E. DI Sebastian Prince von Schoenaich-Carolath, met the Grand Master of the Order, Fra' John T. Dunlap. Traditionally, the Grand Master accompanies the Order's pilgrimage to Lourdes, in which more than 3,000 MALTESER pilgrims from all over the world take part.

The topic of global human trafficking was discussed at IHC2025, the International Hospitaller's Conference, which took place in Vienna at the beginning of April 2025. It brought together the heads of the Order of Malta's relief organisations from around the world.
