On 28 January 2021, H.E. Ambassador DI Sebastian Prinz von Schoenaich-Carolath met with the Head of State of the Sovereign Order of Malta, Grand Master Fra’ John T. Dunlup, in Vienna, who was returning to Rome after attending the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp.

During the Grand Master’s stopover in Vienna, Ambassador Schoenaich-Carolath provided him with an update on the projects to combat Human Trafficking and the plans for the Order of Malta’s International Hospitaller’s Conference, which will take place in Vienna at the beginning of April 2025. Around 150 people from all over the world are expected to attend the conference, including representatives of all aid organisations of the Order. The conference will discuss the current geopolitical situations in the world’s crisis regions, particularly in Lebanon, Syria, Israel, Palestine and, not least, Ukraine, which are highly relevant for stategies to provide effective help and humanitarian support. In addition, the protection of aid workers will be discussed, along with current medical findings on the main disease of our civilisation, dementia.
