Combating Human Trafficking: Progress Made by the Monitoring Centre
Austria, too, is severely affected by this crime against humanity. Together with the Archdiocese of Salzburg, the Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the Republic of Austria, H.E. Ambassador Sebastian Prince of Schoenaich-Carolath, a monitoring centre for Human Trafficking was established. Now Caritas Austria is also taking up this important cause. The Austrian Broadcasting Corporation reported on this in its news programme “Salzburg today” on 11 October 2026. H.E. the Ambassador is interviewed in the report.

To mark the World Day Against Human Trafficking, the Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the Republic of Austria, H.E. Sebastian Prince of Schoenaich-Carolath, draws attention to the dramatic scale of one of the most serious and, at the same time, most hidden crimes of our time. Human Trafficking is one of the most profitable forms of organised crime worldwide and constitutes a massive attack on human dignity and freedom.
